September 23, 2020, FinTech Australia announced the finalists¹ for this year’s Finnies. The Finnies recognise and reward the Australian FinTech community by honouring innovation, growth and collaboration.
For Meeco, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We’re humbled (and a little excited) to be a finalist in the “Excellence in Industry Collaborations & Partnerships” category.
Our submission was based on our partnerships in Belgium with KBC Bank, KBC Brussels and CBC Bank. As an Australian FinTech, we’re thrilled to have forged this partnership along with expanding our operations into Belgium and establishing a team on the ground.
KBC was recently voted the most valuable brand in Belgium for the 5th consecutive time, along with also being voted the best Digital Bank for 2019. Known for digital innovation, KBC has created an eco-system of value added services for customers, all available from within their mobile banking app.
In December 2019, three of KBC's retail bank brands added the “Digital Safe powered by Meeco”. A secure data enclave that enables customers to capture, store and share personal data and documents. Available in four languages (Dutch, French, German and English) and leading the way in customer data privacy and personal data mobility.
Despite the global challenges of 2020, our engineering teams in Australia and Belgium have been focussed on making Meeco's technology available to more partners. Our APIs and SDKs² will soon be available in Australia, to support the Consumer Data Right, in the same way we have been helping our European partners with GDPR and Open Banking.
We would also love to give a shout out to our newest partners developing amazing application powered by Meeco.
Starting with mIKs-it “The safe multimedia app for kids”. mIKs-it is a protected space for kids to experience play and joy through photos, videos and audio. Enabling kids and their trusted grown-ups to safely connect to daily life always with complete privacy. mIKs-it is being developed in partnership with Heder VZW in Belgium, and will launch in December 2020.
Closer to home, Meeco is privileged to have been selected by Pam Moorhouse, founder and CEO to provide the privacy, security and consent platform for My Life Capsule. My Life Capsule empowers family connection & organisation across multiple generations, relieving day-to-day and time-critical administration. It helps families capture and share memories, important information and data assisting with the emotional and logistical requirements at every stage of life.
The Finnies category winners will be announced at the virtual ceremony on Wednesday 28 October (AEST). Also, Stone & Chalk in Sydney, will be hosting a special in-person event on the night.
“We are thrilled with the quality of applications and the finalists, which are a testament of the growth, and strength of the fintech ecosystem. We are excited to celebrate the hard-fought achievements of the ecosystem at this year’s Finnies” Rebecca Schot-Guppy, CEO, FinTech Australia
This will be the first virtual Finnies event, starting at 18:00 AEST on October 28. People will be able to watch from home, which means our team in Belgium can also join in the celebrations. 🇦🇺🇧🇪
From all of us at Meeco, huge congratulations to all the wonderful finalists. 🙌👏🙌👏🙌
It’s an honour to be counted in such great company, thank you! 🤞
